Wedding Recourses and COVID-19
Yesterday I wrote a blog post about COVID-19 and what to do if you need to reschedule your wedding. Today I want to give you some recourses and steps on how to reschedule your wedding.
Steps after Deciding to Reschedule
Let all of your vendors know. Read through the contract that you have signed with them and see what their cancelation policy is.
Call your venue as soon as possible and ask what their options are rescheduling. Can you elope on your wedding day at the venue and then have a party later in the year? What Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays do they have open?
Let your guests know. I would send a mass email, post on the socials, and update your wedding website. Alaine of Write Pretty For Me is offering a FREE date change file to send to your guests. You just have to fill out the form here.
Figure out your elopement plan.
Ask your florist if they can make you one bouquet for your elopement and then use the rest of the flowers for the reception later in the year.
Find a place (look below for recs).
Figure out who will be there.
If you want to do a little meal just the two of you, see where you can get take out from.
Talk to your photographer and create a timeline for your elopement.
Nail down your reception details. Have a for sure date set in stone. Talk to your vendors and see who can move to this date with you.
Elopement Spots in Indianapolis
Let’s start with the fact that you have a venue set for your wedding date. Ask them if you can elope there. There is a very real possibility that we will go to lockdown at some point soon, so no elopements would be happening at that time. But if your venue will let you, ask if just the two of you can come in with your photographer and officiant and elope. You may even be able to get ready there as well.
People often ask me where they should take pictures. My first question to them is, “what is a place that you love to go to, has sentimental meaning or frequently visit?” Let’s start there. My biggest goal when it comes to photography is taking photos that fully reflect who you guys are together. This happens easily when you are at a place where you are comfortable and familiar. Let me give you an example. If my wedding was getting postponed due to COVID-19, the spot I would elope would be the dock at my grandparent’s house on the lake. My grandpa couple watch from the safety of his home. The lake is a place that means the most to me. Luke and I also go there often together. Do you have a place like this? Maybe it’s an hour away. That’s okay. This is your day and you get to do what you want. Let’s go an hour away (oh no way am I charging you for that little extra bit of gas, this is crazy enough).
If you’re stuck, that is totally okay. I have some places that I suggest listed below.
