Weddings and COVID-19

Well… this isn’t going quite as expected. As of today, March 16th, Governor Holcomb has said that Indiana is going to adhere to the CDC’s recommendation to keep gatherings to a max of fifty people or less for the next eight weeks. You’re probably immediately thinking of your wedding. I am thinking of your wedding too. First, I know this is upsetting and disappointing and just really sad. Your feelings are 100% valid. Flexibility is the name of the game right now. I want to help make your wedding day happen however we can. I am offering the Social Distancing Package (thank you Lauren Kendall for that name) to my 2020 couples who are looking to reschedule.

Social Distancing Package

Small, intimate elopement on your wedding date or another date close to it (we can find a date to work!)
4 hours of coverage including getting ready, details, vows, couple photos and immediate family if there
I will help you communicate with vendors on how to make this happen
I will help choose a location for the elopement if your venue is not available
4 hours of reception coverage later in 2020 during a Thursday, Friday, limited Saturdays or Sunday

Social Distancing Package Example Plan

  • Get ready at a parents house or your house

  • Get married at a state park with just immediate family and maybe bridal party, Pomp and Bloom is opening their studio for small weddings as well

  • Live streaming to a FB group with all guests

  • Doing a small dinner with a pretty table at one of the parent’s houses at the end of the elopement. I used to own a biz that set tables so girl I have so many things to help you set that table. We can sort out hours once both dates are set.

  • Work with all vendors to find another date this year, probably a Friday night, to use remaining flowers, catering order, and DJ to throw a party

Postponement Protocol

  • First I want to thank you for understanding that photography is my full-time job. This is how I provide for my family. I love my job beyond I can explain. It is a privilege that I get to do what I love every day. The money that I make from doing this job keeps food on the table for my family. I know we are all feeling the effects of this.

  • No cancelation fees or rescheduling fees will be applied to all weddings rescheduled in 2020. If there is no way to have the wedding in 2020, the change fee listed in my contract will apply to a 2021 wedding as it will take away a Saturday for me to be making income in the next year. It is inevitable that my business will be losing money. The goal is to keep the losses to 2020 and minimize the rollover to 2021 as much as possible.

  • Weddings who have paid their full balance will not be refunded as it is within 30 days. I have every intention to shoot your rescheduled wedding no matter what. If you choose the Social Distancing Package then that will be applied. If you want to fully reschedule then we can work that out too. If there is no way I cannot shoot your new wedding date and do not have an associate* available for that date, half of your remaining balance will be refunded (this does not include your retainer amount).

*An associate is someone I have full confidence in to shoot your wedding in my name. All RAW images will be delivered to me where I edit and deliver the photos to you.

I want to say a big thank you to my amazing photographer friends. I am in a group chat with seventeen beyond talented photographers in Indiana and we have been helping each other through this. I can’t take credit for all of these ideas. It has been a group effort. Thank you to Laurken Kendall for being an industry leader in this and giving language to help explain to clients how to proceed.
