How to Think about Lighting for your Wedding Day

Light is important. The big misconception when it comes to planning your wedding is that you do not need to think about how the lighting will affect your photos. I know you have probably seen photos that you love of other peoples weddings. What do you love about them? Do you love that they are light and bright? You aren't going to get that in a dark church. Are there a lot of windows at the venue you want to use? Are there spots outside where you can take photos? If the floors are wooded there are brick walls, your venue will be dark. Especially at night. Is there a spot with white walls? The white walls will bounce the light and create a much brighter space. If your ceremony is going to be outside, it works best to have the sun behind you. If it is going to be inside, try and have it near a window. All in all, having those light and bright images will only happen if you're in the right setting. This is something that you will have to think about when choosing your venue.
